Passport Controls within the Schengen Area

As a rule, checks are no longer carried out at the internal land borders to the Schengen states. However, in order to be able to provide proof of identity during random checks, travellers must carry their travel document in the Schengen area.

여권

한국 국적자는 10년 이내에 만들어진 여권을 소지하고 있어야 오스트리아를 포함한 쉥겐 국가에 입국할 수 있으며, 쉥겐 국가 출국일로부터 3개월 이상의 잔여 유효기간 및 최소 2페이지의 공란이 있는 여권을 소지하셔야 합니다.

비자와 ETIAS

오스트리아는 쉥겐협약 국가이며, 대한민국 국적자는 관광 목적으로 체류 시 90일까지 비자가 필요 없습니다 (다만 2025년 봄부터, ETIAS의 취득이 필요합니다). 쉥겐 조약 회원국 간에 국경을 넘을 때는 여권 컨트롤이 없습니다.

혹시 6개월 이상의 체류를 원하시거나 관광 목적 외의 방문을 원하실 경우, 오스트리아 대사관에서 별도로 체류허가를 받아야 합니다. 자세한 입국 및 세관 규정은 주한 오스트리아 대사관 홈페이지를 확인하시거나 대사관으로 직접 문의 바랍니다. ​

ETIAS (2025년 봄~):
한국 국적자는 2025년 봄부터 오스트리아를 포함한 27개 쉥겐조약 가맹국 및 불가리아, 루마니아, 키프로스를 여행할 때 ETIAS(European Travel Information and Authorisation System)의 취득이 필요합니다. 2024년 6월 현재 아직 시행 개시일은 정해지지 않았지만 2025년 이후에 해당 국가로 여행을 계획하시는 분들은 ETIAS 공식 사이트를 반드시 확인해 주시기 바랍니다. 취득료는 7유로가 될 전망이며, 18세 미만 및 70세 이상은 지불 면제가 됩니다(ETIAS 취득은 필요합니다).

덧붙여 ETIAS 공식이라고 속이는 사이트가 이미 많이 존재합니다. ETIAS의 공식 사이트는 https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en 뿐입니다. 위장 사이트에 속지 않도록 부디 조심하세요.

UK, US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Indian Nationals

Attention: Please note, that travellers from the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand will require an ETIAS travel authorisation from spring 2025. Please check here for more information.

As a UK national, you will not need a visa to travel to Austria for a holiday (up to 90 days in any 180-day period). At border control, you may need to show a return or onward ticket or prove that you have enough money for your stay. You may need a visa or permit to stay for longer, to work or study, or for business travel. Please be aware that different rules may apply to non-UK nationals, even if they are family members of UK nationals.

Passport
On the day you travel, you’ll need your passport to both:

  • have at least 3 months left (Nevertheless, it is strongly recommended that your passport is valid for at least 6 more months when entering Austria. This would in many cases save you from having to proof the date of your intended leave of the EU.)

  • be less than 10 years old (even if it has 6 months or more left)

If this is not the case, you may not be able to travel to the EU, including Austria.

US and Canadian passport holders do not require a visa to travel to Austria for a holiday (up to 90 days in any 180-day period). Passport validity of at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from the Schengen area is required. A passport validity of 6 months is recommended. You may need a visa or permit to stay for longer, to work or study, or for business travel.

Indian nationals need a Schengen visa to enter Austria. As from 2 November 2015 following the introduction of the Visa Information System (VIS), all Schengen visa applicants in India have to appear in person in order to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photography). The photograph has to be digitally taken at the time of the application or scanned from an existing one. For subsequent applications within 59 months, the fingerprints can be copied from the previous application file in the VIS. In case of reasonable doubt regarding the identity of the applicant, or about the fact, that the prints were collected within this 59-month period, the consulate will collect the fingerprints again. Visa applicants' biometric data can be collected by Schengen States' consulates and external service providers, but not commercial intermediaries.

Processing Time will be a minimum of 15 days (excluding day of submission at VFS) for all the Visa categories. However, in some cases the procedure may take considerably longer. Applications accepted at the Austria Application Center in New Delhi will be submitted on the next working day at the Embassy of Austria, and applications submitted at the other 17 Austrian Application Centres will be submitted after two working days at the Embassy of Austria in New Delhi.

세관 규정

원칙적으로 세관 검사는 더 이상 수행되지 않지만, 언제든지 점검이 진행될 수 있습니다. 한국에서 직접 오스트리아로 입국할 경우, 또는 여행이 EU 외 국가에서 시작되었고, 오스트리아에 입국하기 전에 다른 EU 국가에서 단순히 경유 또는 환승을 한 경우에는 제3국에서 오는 여행자에 대한 규정이 적용됩니다. EU 국가에서 다른 EU 국가로의 직항 비행(제3국에서의 경유 없이)인 경우, 출국 통로를 사용할 수 있습니다.

EU 내 여행 시 물품 허용량

담배 제품 또는 주류는 개인 사용 경우에만 관세가 면제됩니다. 아래 명시된 기준 수량을 초과하는 경우 개인 사용 목적임을 증명해야 합니다.

담배:

  • 담배: 800개비

  • 시가릴로(단위 중량 최대 3g): 400개비

  • 시가: 200개비

  • 흡연 담배: 1kg

주류:

  • 증류주: 10리터

  • 맥주, 스파클링 와인 또는 알코올 도수 22% 이하의 와인을 제외한 알코올 음료: 20리터

  • 와인(이 중 스파클링 와인은 최대 60리터): 90리터

  • 맥주: 110리터

Further Information

This provision does not apply to the Canary Islands (Spain), Gibraltar (Great Britain) and the British Channel Islands (Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, etc.). When entering from these countries, the same import quantities are allowed as when entering from non-EU countries.

Attention: Duty free purchases are no longer possible when travelling directly within the EU.

When passing through customs, you must declare the following goods, i.e. submit a customs declaration for

  • goods not intended for personal use

  • goods purchased outside the EU that exceed the allowances for tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, non-sparkling wines, beer and medicines and the exemption limit for other goods

  • goods that are subject to import bans or import restrictions

비 EU 국가(한국)에서 입국 시 물품 허용량

오스트리아로 제3국에서 항공 및 해상 여행을 통해 개인 사용 또는 선물용으로 면세로 수입할 수 있는 최대 수량은 다음과 같습니다:

  • 스파클링 와인이 아닌 와인 4리터 및

  • 맥주: 16리터

Alcoholic beverages

  • Alcohol and alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of more than 22% vol. or undenatured ethyl alcohol of 80% vol. or more: 1 litre or

  • Alcohol and alcoholic beverages of an alcoholic strength by volume not exceeding 22% vol: 2 litres or

  • A proportionate assortment of these goods and in addition

  • Non-sparkling wines: 4 litres and

  • Beer: 16 litres

다음은 오스트리아로 제3국에서 들어오는 기타 물품에 대한 면세 한도입니다:

  • 육로 입국: 총 가치가 300유로까지 면세

  • 항공 여행: 총 가치가 430유로까지 면세

15세 미만의 여행자의 경우, 이 두 가지 면세 한도는 일반적으로 150유로로 줄어듭니다(교통수단에 관계없이 적용됨). 여러 명의 여행자가 함께 여행하더라도 면세 한도를 합산할 수 없습니다.

여행 중 개인 사용을 위한 여행 장비는 수입 금지 품목이 없는 한 면세로 오스트리아에 반입할 수 있습니다.

반려동물 동반 여행

반려동물과 오스트리아를 여행하는 것은 반려동물의 건강과 정신에 큰 부담이 될 수 있어 권하지 않습니다. 그러나 꼭 동반해야 할 경우는 아래 사항을 참고하십시오(2024년 9월 현재). 정확한 정보는 사전에 꼭 주한 오스트리아 대사관으로 문의하는 것을 권장합니다.

  • 1인당 최대 5마리의 동물이 허용됩니다.

  • 각 동물은 마이크로칩으로 식별되어야 합니다. 단, 2011년 7월 3일 이전에 시행된 문신은 명확하게 읽을 수 있는 한 여전히 유효합니다.

  • 각 동물은 관할 당국의 허가를 받은 수의사가 발급한 반려동물 여권을 소지해야 합니다. 또한 해당 동물이 유효한 광견병 예방접종을 받았으며, 해당되는 경우 유효한 추가 접종을 받았음을 증명해야 합니다. 광견병 예방접종은 기본 접종 완료 후 21일 동안 유효하며, 이후 정기 추가 접종을 받은 동물의 경우 추가 접종이 유효합니다.

반려견은 반드시 목줄 또는 입마개를 착용해야 합니다.

오스트리아에 머무는 동안 목줄과 입마개는 반드시 휴대해야 합니다. 오스트리아에서는 반려견의 목줄 및 입마개 착용 의무를 규제할 책임이 각 지자체에 있습니다. 목줄이나 입마개 착용 의무를 정확하게 규정하는 전국적인 법률은 없습니다. 선택한 휴가지의 관광 협회에서 해당 지자체에 적용되는 규정에 대한 정확한 정보를 제공해 드릴 수 있습니다.

일반적으로 반려견의 리드줄 착용에 관한 오스트리아 연방 법률이 기준이 됩니다.

연방 법률에서 발췌한 내용입니다:

해당 지역에서는 반려견을 목줄에 묶거나 입마개를 해야 합니다. 버스 정류장, 대중교통, 학교 및 유치원, 어린이 놀이터, 쇼핑 센터, 목욕 시설, 행사장 등 사람들이 많이 모이는 곳에서는 어떤 경우에도 개는 반드시 목줄을 착용하고 입마개를 해야 합니다.

경찰견, 보조견 및 구조견, 훈련된 사냥개, 특정 사람의 도움을 필요로 하는 개(예: 시각장애인 안내견)는 이 규정에서 제외됩니다.

지자체는 조례로 다음 사항을 결정할 수 있습니다.

  • 해당 지역에서 목줄 또는 입마개 착용이 의무화되지 않은 지역(목줄 미착용 지역)

  • 해당 지역에서 개를 리드줄에 묶고 입마개를 해야 하는 경우

  • 해당 지역에서 반려견의 출입이 일반적으로 금지되는 지역(반려견 금지 구역)

  • 지역 밖에서도 반려견을 리드줄에 묶거나 입마개를 착용해야 하는 경우

FAQs for entry into Austria

  • A maximum of five animals per person are allowed.

  • Each animal must be identified by a microchip. However, a tattoo carried out before July 3, 2011 is still valid, provided that it is clearly legible.

  • Each animal must have a pet passport issued by a veterinarian authorised by the competent authority. It must also show that the animal in question has a valid rabies vaccination and, if applicable, a valid booster vaccination. The rabies vaccination is valid for 21 days after completion of the basic immunisation, if the animal has undergone regular booster vaccination thereafter.

Yes, children need their own passport - an entry in their parents' passport is not valid.

Nationals of EU member states, EEA countries, Switzerland and numerous other countries (e.g. Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, United States, etc.) do not require a visa to enter Austria. All other nationalities require a Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days.

With the entry into force of the Schengen Agreement, third-country nationals subject to visa requirements can also enter Austria with a Schengen visa without requiring another Austrian visa.

Nationals who hold a residence permit in a Schengen state are entitled to travel to any other Schengen state and stay there for up to 90 days.
